Macroinvertebrates (owaterbugs) are key bioindicators for determining the health of waterway, being a key part of the food chain and can tell us about the health of the ecosystem.
Join Merri Creek Management Committee for our spring Waterbug sampling session on Sunday 28 October as we collect data on waterbug diversity for Melbourne Water project priorities. The session will cover:
- sampling and collecting of waterbugs
- identifying live waterbugs to Family level and sometimes beyond!*
- Collecting information that will be part of the first ever National Waterbug Blitz!
- lunch provided
*please note: Some previous experience with macroinvertebrate identification is ideal.
Date & Time: Sunday 28 October 2018, 10am-1pm
Location: Merri Creek, 250 metres upstream end of Keady Street Coburg North. Parking on Keady Street or bike ride to site via Merri trail.
