Merri Creek Management Committee

Newlands PS 2019 BlBandedBee assemblyDuring 2018 Newlands Primary School, West Preston, enhanced indigenous biodiversity in its grounds with a Landcare Grant. Funding from this grant also enabled Merri Creek Management Committee staff to provide two professional development sessions in March and May 2019, where teachers learned how to use their school grounds to teach about indigenous plants and pollinators. Botanic drawing and plant identification were included in the sessions.

If your school is interested in professional development sessions on indigenous biodiversity, please contact our Special Engagement Programs Coordinator, Angela Foley This email address is being protected from spambots. Wurundjeri panel - featureSee a web version of these fabulous panels which celebrate the outstanding community achievement since 1975 in transforming Merri Creek from a weed-smothered drain to a much-loved waterway running through a bushland corridor: fronts of panels (17MB file); backs of panels (9MB file).

The two metre size panels were originally displayed at libraries and other public places throughout the Merri Creek catchment over 16 months until late 2016, in celebration of MCMC's 25th Anniversary.
