Merri Creek Management Committee (MCMC) recently farewelled two of our longest-serving staff members.
In January 2019, Katrina Roberg (right) resigned from her position as Manager of our Ecological Restoration Program (formerly Parkland Management Program) after 13 years. A month earlier, Brian Bainbridge (left) said farewell after 21 years with MCMC. He resigned from his substantive position as Ecological Restoration Planner in early 2018 but stayed on for the rest of the year for one day per week.
Brian took up a position as Biodiversity Officer for Hepburn Shire Council a year ago. Besides his excellent flora and fauna identification skills and ecological knowledge, he is also an accomplished artist. The painting on the banner at the top of each of MCMC's website pages is an example of Brian's beautiful and ecologically accurate work. He is continuing his art practice from his rural base.
Katrina resigned to explore new directions. She's taking time to reconnect with the wonders of nature that originally inspired her work, and to deepen her Buddhism practice through facilitating courses and managing retreats. Keep an eye out for how Katrina may bring nature connection, Buddhism and restoration together to support urban conservation.
