The marram baba Merri Creek Parklands follow approximately 25 kilometres of the Merri Creek, from the Western Ring Road to just south of Beveridge. The parklands are on the traditional lands of the Wurundjeri Woi wurrung people. Merri Creek holds special significance to these Traditional Owners.

This green corridor provides sanctuary for important plant and animal communities such as the threatened Growling Grass Frog, Golden Sun Moth, Cunningham’s Skink and a variety of water birds. Migratory species such as the Short-finned Eel and Sacred Kingfisher connect this waterway to areas as far away as the Coral Sea. The parklands also include the largest and most diverse native grassland in Greater Melbourne.
