Merri Creek Management Committee Inc. is a not-for-profit organisation registered in Victoria as an incorporated association. ...Why was it structured this way?
MCMC is governed by its Statement of Purposes and Rules. In accordance with the rules, MCMC's member groups meet at the Annual General Meeting (usually held in December) and elect office-bearers (President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer) and appoint representatives of member groups to MCMC's Committee of Management. The Committee of Management meets quarterly, and has set up four subcommittees:
- Executive Subcommittee comprising the Office-bearers
- Planning and Issues Subcommittee
- Merri Creek and Environs Strategy Subcommittee
- Finance Subcommittee
The Finance Subcommittee supervises MCMC's finances, which are managed on a day to day basis by MCMC's Finance Officer and the Manager. Each year (MCMC's financial years run from 1 October to 30 September) MCMC's finances are audited. Copies of reports from the Auditor can be found here.
The Executive Subcommittee deals with a range of duties delegated to it by the Committee of Management, particularly policy development.
MCMC's Manager reports to the Committee of Management, and is guided by the Executive Subcommittee.
Other MCMC staff report directly or indirectly to MCMC's Manager.
