Join MCMC in guling season (August), for a walk and talk to learn about and hand weed renewed patches of Swamp wallaby habitat. We'll meet at Strettle Reserve in Thornbury, which is one of the six areas targeted during 18 months of Green Links conservation work.

Did you know? Swamp wallabies are darker than their Eastern grey kangaroo cousins and have dark patches on their nose and legs, and very long tails. The female births one tiny hairless embryo that stays in her pouch for about one year before venturing out for fungi and ferns and plants like Tree violets that have rows of tiny, fragrant, pale-yellow flowers about to bloom. Please always walk your dog on a lead around Merri Creek to protect these shy, solitary, nocturnal, animals.
