In February we were delighted to publish our 2022–2024 Biennial Report – a wonderful opportunity to share just some of the stories that we at MCMC are privileged to be a part of, with you, the people who make it all possible.
If you didn’t catch it already, take a peek at the report to read:
- how your support has enabled us to help three endangered species (Growling Grass Frog, Golden Sun Moth and Latham’s Snipe) as well as the critically endangered Matted Flax Lilly;
- about the grasslands that remain in the Merri Creek catchment despite 98% of its pre-colonisation occurrence being lost;
- why the Victorian government’s endorsement of the marram baba Merri Creek Regional Parklands Future Directions Plan represents a huge achievement by MCMC and our long-time partner, Friends of Merri Creek;
- how local educators have been empowered and supported by our Community of Practice workshops to connect with Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung knowledge in environmental and ethical ways;
- as well as reports from our President Ann McGregor and CEO Bernadette Thomas.
As we acknowledge these achievements, we thank you for being the passionate community the Merri Creek needs in our ever-growing city of Melbourne – for the dirt you get in your fingernails as you remove invasive weeds; for the connection with nature you give our children as they learn their role in the future of the Merri Creek; and for the wisdom and expertise you bring to the many ways you support our work.
Read the report here or one of its case studies, below, about the expansion of our ecological burning program in Merri-bek Council.
